From Hypertext to Print: Authors who Blog

In Dear Blog: Today I Worked on My Book, The New York Times writes about authors (of books) who blog and how they enjoy the instant feedback of the Web, citing “The Long Tail,” which I read, among others as examples of writers who blog a topic as they are writing a book on it. That brings to surface a lot of thoughts on the nature of the book* as a non-linear concept, even if at some point it goes to print. The book is changed by this process. First, one side of my brain wonders if it wouldn’t water a book down, the way over-workshopping can strip a creative work of its authorial life…
