One of my clients is finally releasing his film in theaters! That’s not an easy thing to do for documentary filmmakers (think of them as the poets of the movie world) so he could use a lot of support by getting people into the theaters. It’s a great movie too. Here’s a brief description:
Filmmaker Doug Block had every reason to believe his parent’s 54-year marriage was a good one. So he isn’t prepared when, just a few months after his mother’s unexpected death, his father, Mike, phones to announce that he’s moving to Florida to live with his secretary from 40 years before, Kitty.
51 Birch Street will be in New York and Long Island on October 18th, and afterwards in LA, San Francisco, Highland Park Chicago, Minneapolis and Boston.
Go to the 51 Birch Street Website for more about the film, including screening dates, and check out Doug’s blog, Around the Block.
Thanks, Bud. But in the description you forgot the part about my father and Kitty selling our family house and my discovering 35 years worth of my mother’s daily diaries. All sorts of secrets and revelations spill out, none of them the expected ones.
Not a film I really set out to make, but then life happened…
