And if that does not impress people, good lord 25 Criterion DVDs?!? I’ve spent many days watching and rewatching parts of that collection. It’s an excellent buy.

You know, there’s no real assurance that the transfers on these DVDs will be the same pristine transfers that Janus has licensed to Criterion. One would think that in fact that would be the case...but who knows?

Also, this set includes three films that have not yet been released by Criterion: Ichikawa’s Fires on the Plain, Carne’s Le Jour Se Leve, and Sjöberg Miss Julie.  These will likely be released by Criterion sometime next year.
