I do, so I consider myself lucky to have two great filmmakers as clients.
Mitch Teplitsky, creator of Soy Andina (I am Andean):
The dazzling story of two New York women raised in different worlds — an immigrant folk dancer from the Andes, and a modern dancer from Queens, NY — who journey to Peru in search of roots and dance…
Soy Andina is an exuberant cross-cultural road trip, bursting with traditional music and dance rarely seen outside the country. But the core story is intimate and universal: a yearning for roots and connection in turbulent times.
Doug Block, creator of 51 Birch Street:
…Through increasingly candid conversations with family members and stunning diary revelations, he comes to terms with two parents who are far more complex and troubled than he ever imagined.
Both funny and heartbreaking, 51 Birch Street is the first person account of filmmaker Block’s unpredictable journey through a whirlwind of dramatic life-changing events: the death of his mother, the uncovering of decades of family secrets, and the ensuing reconciliation with his 83-year-old father. What begins as Doug’s own intimate, autobiographical story, soon evolves into a broader meditation on the universal themes of love, marriage, fidelity and the mystery of family.
Both of these guys have great blogs – which is really why I brought it up here in the first place. Both blog about the experience of being a filmmaker, so you get treated to what it’s like to be what I consider to be the poets of the film industry.
Mitch’s blog: Soy Andina Weblog (see a great recent post on Mitch and Nelida’s trip to New Orleans)
Doug’s blog: Around the Block: Doug Blocks Doc Blog (see his recent posts on SXSW screenings and some great mentions in Salon.com)
Bud, this is one your finest blog posts ever!
But seriously, readers should know that your design and vision for my Soy Andina website has made it really stand out. So thanks for that.
