Ed Champion quotes "B-to-B" saying that newspapers will print less content like weather reports and sports statistics in favor of putting them online – he speculates that book reviews will be next. I don’t know the economics of newspapers but I imagine that printing on paper is hugely innefficient while there are a lot of people willing to write for very little money.
Maybe some newspapers will expand their book review sections, but keep that online. What few conversations I have had with those guys leads me to believe that they care about the situation in book reviews, but are constrained. So maybe this shift will cause a re-look at the online content and be good for book reviews. Dunno, maybe I’m just feeling optimistic.
