Alex Ross’s The Rest is Noise – Listening to the 20th Century, is finally out. Ross writes for The New Yorker and has been writing a blog (The Rest is Noise) for a while now. Because of the blog (<— note to authors), I’ve been eagerly awaiting the book. Ross also happens to be on my list of critics who write with ardor instead of irony, which I think is rare today, so I’m happy to do whatever I can to promote his book here, particularly since what he’s writing about – modern classical music – needs this book. I’ll have more in time once I’ve had a chance to delve in.
Here’s a promotional video and also check out Radhika Jones’s “collections” column on Ross.
