Housing Works Used Book Cafe’s Author to Author Series
A conversation between Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point, Blink) and James Surowiecki (The Wisdom of Crowds). Both authors will be available to sign books and answer questions after the event.
About Gladwell: A staff writer for The New Yorker since 1996, Malcolm Gladwell published his first and wildly successful book, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference in 2002 (Little, Brown), which explores the often sudden and unexpected changes in our society and what makes them happen. His new novel, Blink, also published by Little, Brown, will be released in January 2005.
About Surowiecki: Author of the business column, The Financial Page for The New Yorker, Surowiecki’s work has appeared in publications such as Wired, Slate and The New York Times. In his book, The Wisdom of Crowds: Why the Many Are Smarter Than the Few and How Collective Wisdom Shapes Business, Economies, Societies and Nations (Doubleday, May 2004), Surowiecki explores the strength and wisdom of the masses verses the elite few.
More Author 2 Author series with Vendela Vida (And Now You Can Go) and David Schickler (Sweet and Vicious). Both authors will be available to sign books and answer questions after the event.
Vendela Vida garnered attention several years ago for her nonfiction debut, Girls on the Verge. She now moves into the realm of fiction with her stunning first novel, And Now You Can Go, the story of 21 year old Ellis, a young woman whose life is turned upside down after she is held at gunpoint in Riverside Park.
“And Now You Can Go is a swift, fleet novel, a spare but polished miniature. . . . Vida writes with a sense of urgency, and with leapfrogging good humor.”—The New York Times Book Review
David Schickler’s clever and unique second novel, Sweet and Vicious, is the modern day love story of two of the most fascinating characters in modern day fiction: Grace McClone and Henry Dante. Wrought with violence, humor and passion, this dazzling work is a must read.
“Compelling, delightfully twisted, seductively real…bold and inventive, sexy and violent, but most of all, sweet and vicious.”—Elle
