I was right – a few days without the Mac in hand and I’m better for it. Our trip was exhausting, owing mostly to the difficult combination of baby – hotel room/long drive. We always spend a lot of time reading in an empty bathtub while the baby sleeps in the main room and that wears on the bones after awhile, or, if you can picture, two adults sharing a turkey sandwich on the floor of a bathroom so that the baby can sleep, and so on. The glamorous side of parenthood.
My wife is reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. She loves it, so maybe it is an HP for adults, because she’s a fan, and I understand from a blog (which one, I can’t remember now) that it’s already being bid for in a big way from the directors of Lord of the Rings and the HP movies.
I needed something lighter (than Terra Nostra), so I began reading The Golden Ass, which is just good, nearly two thousand year old, story telling, with a bit of Benny Hill ribald humor in the mix for good measure.
Lastly, as a testament to my sickness, one of the first things I did arriving home was to catch up on blog reading.
Hey Bud,
It’s a sickness you share with many. I know we’re still collectively feeling out this whole blog thing, but I think one of the common themes to have come out so far is the sheer compulsiveness of it. Like, you’ve got to write that post, got to see what’s going on in your part of the blogosphere.
