Chekhov's Mistress

The Funny Thing Is…

by Bud Parr

Unbeknownst to most, I went gently into that good night not long ago and retired my membership in the Litblog Co-op. My reason? I couldn’t manage to read the 20 books a year – four per quarter – and do them any justice. I don’t manage to find time for more than 40 or so books a year (gulp, am I blowing my litbloggery credentials altogether here?). But really I have an aversion to reading anything required of me, so every time I picked up a nominated book, it had a mark against it being that someone else chose it for me.

But wouldn’t you know, they’re making me want to read those books anyway. If you haven’t been over there recently, there’s been a lot good discussion going on and I think you’ll find yourself wanting to read at least some of the books.

Today, read Kassia Krozser on Rupert Thomson’s Divided Kingdom.

Boy did I think about this when I said yes: if it was too much for Bud, what am I thinking? Still, I said yes. And yes, it’s largely because their posts are so enthusiastic and tempting.
