At Maud’s, I see that The Paris Review is finally releasing a new book of interviews, only it looks like this is a new book of old interviews. Gourevitch is editing a three volume set of the best interviews over the past 50 odd years. I have old copies of the early books with the likes of Faulkner, Frank O’Connor, Hemingway, Capote, and even a compendium of quotes called the Writer’s Chapbook. If, like me, The Paris Review interviews are your answer to People Magazine, then this looks like a must for the wishlist.
You can, however, find plenty of used copies of the old books at Alibris and Abe Books. Also, if you’d rather read interviews with more contemporary authors, The Believer Book of Writers Talking To Writers is quite good too from the few that I’ve read in that collection.
