Back to obscurity?
I was pretty excited to find that someone had made a movie solely about books and writing when I first saw Stone Reader at the Film Forum last year. The director was there, the audience, all book lovers, seemed enthused, and the movie was great (a qualified great based on the idea of sitting around watching people talk about books for an hour or so).
But.
Despite having loved the movie, I never felt compelled to read the book it was about, The Stones of Summer. I don’t know why. I looked at it at B&N, who republished the book along with the Lost Books Club, an organization that the filmmaker Moskowitz formed. But I never felt compelled to buy it.
Now I would guess that is the same conclusion that most had, because the book now sits on their bargain table, marked down to $5.98. I still can’t make myself buy it, but if you love reading and writing enough to be reading this, then I recommend the movie, which is available now on DVD.
Read widely, think well, and write often.
I am most grateful for learning about STONES OF SUMMER from the Moskowitz DVD. I would love to read it but first need to know if there is an audio version?
