You may or may not know this, but when you comment at a blog and leave your URL, it counts toward your search engine ranking. Some people see this as a shortcut to upping their rankings and circulation. They leave comments that either don’t have anything to do with the topic and/or promote themselves. That’s not part of the conversation and it’s not appreciated.
