New Site Design

Time to change clothes yet again here at Chekhov’s Mistress. While the design itself doesn’t represent much of a radical departure, one thing does. I’ve moved from TypePad to using Expression Engine on my own hosting account. I use Expression Engine for most of my Web development clients and absolutely love it – it’s not much right out of the box in terms of design, you have to pretty much build it yourself, but this app has so much flexibility you can pretty much do whatever you like.

I’m still not done with a few things, like I haven’t got my links over here yet and some details like that, but I’ll have to chip away at those things as I find the time.

It will be interesting to see how much my traffic dips after this move. My URLs will be completely different than before so all that search engine traffic (which makes for nice numbers but I ultimately don’t care about) will probably disappear.

So let me know if you have any thoughts on the new design or problems with any of its features.

Such a long time since I have read any Muldoon. I will look for that WZ poem. Thanks.

I love Ish (not least for his continued advocacy for children of war around the world) and Open Book TV. And of course Madiba is always great. I think I could have done with fewer mystical echoing flutes-of-sadness though.

About the ICC: such an important struggle, and so anathema to the idea of American Exceptionalism we are all raised on. That, along with the debate over humanitarian intervention, look to be the defining international issues of our time exactly because they cannot be reduced to simple dichotomies, or even unambiguous moral stances. By which I mean to say I’m looking forward to the film.
